Hi guys,
Wanted to hear your take on a couple of companies:
Google (GOOG) and WFR are on my radar - could there be a better buying opportunity for these two?
WFR is down 61.3% for the year.. yet (and correct me if I'm wrong) nothing material has changed in the companies business.
I know everyone is licking their wounds, but it smells like the smart people are starting to buy..
Your thoughts please..

I think MSFT is a safer bet than GOOG though not as exciting for sure.

Google is down under $350 at the moment. I think I'll watch to see if it goes lower. Nothing is acting in clear patterns as yet.

Google is still very much at the mercy of the general economy. Advertising cutbacks are going to be on the radar screen of every company looking to cut back. With 70+ % of our economy on the consumer and a huge amount of that discretionary I think GOOG may go lower medium term. Longer term should be a good bet, I'd wait to dip into it. I have an eye on MSFT too.

WFR has production issues after the Hurricane Ike hit its facilities. Competitions to produce silicon wafers are also heating up. The tax credit for renewable energy was extended with the passage of TARP. This will help to keep up demand for solar panel.
GOOG is definitely the best of breed. I think GOOG was smart to offer the deal to serve ads for YHOO because it prevented MSFT from combining with YHOO to become a tougher competitor to GOOG. Its future growth is in mobile search via its Android software for cell phones. I prefer GOOG over MSFT because it has lower P/E per growth.

MSFT seems more reliable a bet than GOOG. Google simply doesn't have enough of a history to deduct how it reacts to down economies. I think the smarter money is on MSFT.
WFR are a steel at these prices!

If MSFT is smarter than GOOG, it should try again to buy to YHOO. YHOO shareholders (myself included) would now jump at an offer of $25 from MSFT.
