Clorox (CLX) is posting on Thursday and has gone up significantly this morning. Proctor & Gamble (PG) has their earnings on Wednesday and went down this morning. I picked up 250shares of PG this morning at 66.19 and am going to sell at 66.99 hopefully tomorrow for an easy $200. Anyone else going to ride short-term earnings hype with me? With 3M (MMM) beating expectations last week, and CLX doing so well so far this week, PG has to hop up a little this afternoon or tomorrow, right?

By all means, keep the ball rolling and post a new opinion.

Or CLX was up 1% earlier... it's only up 0.5% now. But I still think both CLX or PG is a good play for the first half of this week.

Who says PG will go to 66.99 by tomorrow? and even if it does, how do you know the trade will go through at exactly that price? Not to mention that making 200$ by tomorrow doesn't really strike me as much of an investment philosophy.

Uhh do you not use any limit orders through your brokerage company? I'm just saying PG sounds right for me this week (and this is the OPINION section). Oh are you using this site for long-term? That's what my portfolio is, but I don't like tracking that many stocks at once... I buy as much of 2-3 stocks as I can and hold them for 4-46hours and am up $4000 for the year already.

If it works for you that's great. I'm more of a medium to long term investor. Don't usually do day trading.

It's harder to see into the future... sure you can tell if a company "will do well" or not, but there will be a lotta bumps in the way... better to try to shoot in the middle of the bumps and if you hit a few of them you can always hold a little longer than you originally planned. I try to go for 2.5% and then sell, but on earnings pops I'll take 0.75%-1.0% since there is nothing concrete helping it (just hype/anticipation) then as long as you sell before earnings are RELEASED, it doesn't matter if the results are good or bad.

Interesting strategy. I'll keep an eye on your portfolio, see how you do it :)

This is Lowrance's new screen name on here... with my first account I just experimented; now it's serious! PG had pretty good earnings this morning too! Yay!
