Can anyone explain to me why Fannie Mae carshed the way it did yesterday? Why is news that the government may put money into FNM a bad thing?

To clarify my position on banks I added a very overweight position in SKF, a short Bank ETF yesterday. Short term and may close at any time, but I'm short banks for now. Watching for PPI and Housing Start numbers due out pre-open today.

Shark, it dilutes the dollar, and its quetionable for the Fed to buy stock. The Fed isn't part of the government. It prints money to lend to the government at interest. It's a private corporation. The founding fathers feared such a thing and fought it. There have been and not been central banks running our country in alternation throughout our history. It's been a long fight, between intternational bankers and unbought politicians.
I suggest this entire series to fully understand the banking system in our country. It includes names, dates, quotes, and a full history of the battle between free men and central banks. Call me paranoid, but then you'd have to call your founding fathers and the authors of the constitution paranoid too, They won't teach you this in school. Schools need money and guess who's in control of the money?
