the traders I talk to are all looking for a bounce and then most are looking for where to short once we do

I was looking for the same thing but I always like to make the case against the crowd.

Here is a sentiment wrap up from tradersnarrative

I agree - all bounces are not being sold into.

I think it is professionals that are selling into strength though and not necessarily the crowd.

even the pros I trade with are hoping for a rally. I am looking for sp 1040 area to see if there is buying there. I do expect some bounces but we do have more selling than we have had since july. Here is something I look at weekly that shows % above 50 day and we are at the july level. http://www.indexindicators.com/charts/sp500-vs-sp500-stocks-above-50d-sma-params-2y-x-x/
so as contrarian view we either bounce hard from here or continue down into a panic
I am actually ready for either. I took small amnt of calls friday.

I'm hoping for a gradual incline in the charts but in a relatively defensive position.
Taken positions in Gold and in 7-10 year bonds for a large portfolio chunk. I guess I'm a bull at heart but thinking last year's run up was too steep..

everyone is still looking for waterfall decline for buys or big pop for shorts
looking at the best way to frustrate traders is a slow gradual increase the rest of the week
we have auto and truck sales tomorrow which can lead to a little weakness and then initial claims no thursday for weakness
so I thinking a drift into thursday with weakness thursday
