I suspect that our friend is the real Atilla Demiray that writes for the xTrend... I wonder if MG would ever reveal the true identity of any avatar.

From his profile:
"I am simulating Atilla Demiray's market calls. He makes real-time market calls on a blog called xTrends. (www.xtrends.blogspot.com). I execute his trades here on Market Guru as he posts on xTrends. I am using ultra long/short ETFs because he usually trades S&P and other major indexes.

I have been watching him for years, he was good before but the last few months were amazing. He was the only trader who called the crash of 2008 quite timely, traded it perfectly, even caught the bottom."

You can't argue with success; but I will put out we are in a period of extreme volatility. It only takes 2-3 good picks to give the appearance of some stellar returns (and I'm an example of this).

One the market stabilizes I'm curious to see how he does.

Great play! I have almost lost interest in stocks to only play the ultra long and short ETF's and the trends. I use Adam Hewison's of the Market Club's methods. My Market Guru site does not reveal that since I have not learned how to play this non real time trading thing. I'll get it though.

Good trading Atila!

Blacktuna and V,

I'm no detective. But here are some questions:
Why reveal the source to his great return that he achieved here at MG?
Isn't it because he wants everyone to go read the blog of his "mentor" and become clients of his "mentor"?

I'm all for everyone to express their investment opinions here at MG. But, I would warn readers against following someone's trading/investment ideas based solely on the great performance that person was able to acheive in MG.

As Dow Jones had pointed out at another thread: http://www.marketguru.com/opinions/market-will-plunge-big-time/1002,1827
MG can be gamed to show great results.

By the way, our Atilla updated his profile recently after he made his big revelation.

MasterOfFate,

Attila Demiray isn't going to even return your phone call if you aren't an accredited investor (i.e. millionaire). Great swing traders like himself have no shortage of wealthy clients. In fact, he's probably turning people away at this point.

I think its *great* that he runs a blog. I don't know of anyone else that publishes such consistently accurate picks. And kudos for our Atilla for taking the time to replicate his trades and to come clean as to their source.

However, as I've pointed before (and in this thread), volatile bear markets give the best opportunities for generating huge returns. Almost all my gains this year have been from leveraged short positions (and I'm an amateur). I've almost universally lost money on my long picks.

Again, I'm still curious how Atilla will do after capitulation and the market finds its bottom. Volatility will be substantially reduced and with it the opportunity to generate the big short-term swing trades.

V, I didn't know about Attila Demiray until he was discussed on this website. Do you know how he make his calls? Good to hear you're doing well in this volatile market.

If I knew I would be making them as well.

I can give you a hint, though. You usually see a big swing up after a big swing down. He just timed it better than me; as I was going to enter tomorrow.

I swear I posted a reply to this. I guess MG ate it.

Anyways, the answer is no. The market will find its bottom once all the bad debt is washed out of the system and foreclosures/unemployment peak. That is at least 12-16 month's away in my opinion.

The best investment advice in the world is to not bother with timing bottoms. It's much better to stay on the sidelines in cash and wait for six months of steady appreciation then to catch a falling knife.

Lots of opportunities to profit on the downside via short selling, on the other hand.

Although I have worked on Wall St., I'm humbled by the extraordinary returns that individual investors like you and Atilla had been able to achieve. I have to receive emails whenever you and Atilla are placing trades. This is the first time do this. Will it cost me any money?

It's free for now. I believe they will implement some profit sharing in the future.

Bear in mind that Attilla and I have made most of our gains by betting *against* Wall Street. As that gravy train is about to leave the station (UYG can't go negative) it remains to be seen if he/we can keep the performance up.

This post is more than 60 days old. Replying to it might be confusing for other members reading the discussion. By all means, keep the ball rolling and post a new opinion.
