Latest analyst target for VMWare on Dec-2008 is 64.00$, half as much as their 52 week high. On the other hand, it is still 10% higher than current price, so I'll keep holding it with the hope it out performs the target.
On the other hand, VMWare's owner EMC sits only 10% above their 52 week low, and with a decent EPS outlook for Dec-2008 and analyst parget price above 20.00$ I think it can make a nice addition to any portfolio.
