Eastern Europe Defense Budgets

Interesting article in WSJ this morning about the need for the former Soviet satelites to increase their ability to defend themselves. In particular they point out the effectivness of some comparitively pretty cheap and effective DEFENSIVE systems... stinger ( RTN) and javelin ( RTN, LMT) missiles. I really think that some of these quality defense giants are a good long term bet and most have been knocked way off their long term highs...see BA. Or, to get a little of everything get the exchange traded fund... PPA

Given the ability of Georgia to shoot down a number of Russian fighters using similar technologies which was a shock to a lot of their generals, this might make for a nice windfall for these firms.

Interesting observation beancounter, i thought i was the only one that noticed..
The Russian air force got beat up by an amature army.. they have a lot to worry about and need much better technology for their next move into the Ukraine.. and they will move in, there is no doubt in my mind.
