Robotic surgery is not the wave of the future, it's the wave of the present. Intuitive surgical are dominating this space and have gained 700% in the last 3 years. Robotic surgery takes less operating time, shortens recovery time dramatically and increases chances of a successful outcome - all music to health and insurance companies' ears.. ISRG's 'da Vinci' robot is in use in urologic, cardiothoracic, gynecologic, and general surgeries.

Dr. Fred is now founder and CEO of Hansen Medical that just recently IPO'd. Hansen does what ISRG does, but in the catheter-based technologies field - helping place catheters in heart surgery.
Valued at 400 million dollars, this new comer seems to have all the key ingredients for success: a reliable and proven fonder, a field that has just one player in it and an industry with more and more customers - people are living longer and demand for these procedures will keep growing.
If HNSN will turn out half the success ISRG has been, we're looking at massive returns down the line, appetizing enough that I've added it to my portfolio.
