Buying TWX

Started Feb 21 at 2:08 ET (By verushka1)

Symbols: TWX

Sold these yesterday at 16.60. I took a .15 loss. I know that as a very long term hold this will reap benefits. Dick Parsons was not a great CEO and was just basically a bureaucrat. Now that Bewekes is in, a creative type, something good will happen
at Time Warner.

They will spin off units- or at least try to (who wants to buy AOL dial-up?) they are trying to sell that and other entities.

I think I was too early. I'll go back in when I see some upward movement.

I'm surprised that you still see life or growth in this company.. They are on shaky ground everywhere they do business and have got to be over priced. In my mind, sound management is the most important thing and there has been none of that since Steve Case.. I think you did well ditching them.. where do you see future growth coming from? selling off units?
Let's not forget it's these idiots that:
Bought and killed NetScape.
Bought and killed WinAmp
Bought and destroyed MapQuest
Bought and almost killed ICQ
I think it's safe to say AOL is the worst company in America over the last 5 years.. Yahoo is a close second..

You can't look backwards only forward. This is an incredible company with phenomenal assets and very valuable franchises. The AOL deal was probably the worst deal ever in corporate America.

Dick Parsons just held the company together but Bewekes as I said ,is a creative type and will move this company forward. Warner Bros. alone, their movie division is
worth a fortune.Their magazine franchise is the largest one in the world.I think you are underestimating this company.

Don't under estimate this sleeping giant. New management will make things happen. Keep an eye on TWX and put it on your watchlist.

The stock price has been lagging for many years- down 23% in 2007 but I really believe it is worth watching. IMO-still too early to buy but I will be watching it.

PS. They didn't kill Netscape- Microsoft did.

I'm totally with betting on new managements but I try to stay away from the "First report" syndrome where new CEO's make sure they publish as bad a first report as they can to set a low benchmark for the future..
Also, let's look at the media business - they are loosing lots of money to the Interment / new media advertising sector... So if anything, I'm worried about the actual sectors they are in - won't media and advertising be the first to suffer if a slow down does occur in the US?
Furthermore.. the dial up business.. how long can that revenue last as that comodety is in fierce competition.
It sounds like you truly believe in this company so I'll be putting it on my watch list and paying close attention, you earned that much. Best of luck on it :)
