We were so busy looking at the Microsoft competition and getting excited about VMware that nobody realized the CEO was messing with the books... a very painful decline, no doubt.. guess I can forget about eating out next week and I'll be dropping the extra cheese on my pizza as well.. If I wasn't already in VMW I would say this a great opportunity to buy.. that is unless the CFO has a spare check book at home that he uses for leisure.. hehe..
But seriously, my assumption is that this too will pass and i for one, am not selling for now.

No reference for messing with the books accept: "No reason was given for Greene's departure." - anther way of saying it I suppose :)

Music to my ears.. VMW has been punished too severely.. just picked up some shares. This is a fantastic opportunity!

I don't. Virtualization is in it's infant stage. Even if Microsoft launches a great competitor, this software can save companies millions in hardware optimization. The market for virtual software will probably increase 10 fold in the next 2 years or so.. I say ride this baby until then..

Guliamo has this dead on. We are virtualizing phsical servers and getting an 8 to 1 or 10 to 1 ratio. Reducing not only phsical servers, but more importantly solving disaster recovery, business continuity and both heat and power issues in server rooms across our footprint. Keep in mind, that as you virtualize the server, so goes the disk storage and EMC is an important component to this strategy as is Cisco and Brocade for the switching. No way this is going to 17 and this is the dip i have been witing for to get in on VM
