“ Humbled Again by Mr. Market„

Cut my investment teeth while at Scudder, Stevens & Clark, and then at Fidelity Investments during the 1990's.

Learned my lessons long ago the hard way trying to argue with Mr. Market, and logged more losses than I'd care to admit. Mediocre performance was my penance.

Post-analysis of my trades (winners and losers), taught me three valuable lessons that have improved my performance substantially:

1) Consult charts for proper entry / exit points;
2) Let your winners run and cut losses short;
3) Take profits along the way.

I have no trading bias as to market cap or sector; if it moves, and there's money to be made in the long or short side of it, I'll play it. In choppy markets such as the one we find ourselves in today, however, I typically maintain a 30%-50% cash position.
