“Welcome Back to the Deep Value Small Cap Portfolio (aka Destroyed Stocks of Great Companies)„

I am at my core a deep value investor with an eye toward great brands that have been pummelled for whatever reason. Examples: CRI, CQB, MFB, BUD at 45 among others.

I love train wrecks which I define as a good company whos stock is down 60% or more from its highs. I look for sectors that have been decimated, but from whose ashes will rise one or two great companies who trade in the single digits having fallen from great heights.

I seek out significantly mispriced securities (stocks or bonds) that are trading at discounts to what I calculate to be their true value, where the businesses themselves are still growing revenues quarter by quarter, year over year. I believe that sales growth and P/S are the two biggest initial indicators of an attractive stock if the sector has been sufficiently sold off.

If such are not available, I will be in cash and will not handle the C-4 that is the leveraged ETFs.
